Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week's topic is "Star Wars: Kanan", the 2015 comic series that shows the backstory of Kanan Jarrus, one of the protagonists of the Rebels TV series.

You probably know the drill by now. Have you read it? Did you like it? Would you recommend it?

Wookieepedia helpfully informs me that events in this comic now contradict with the animated series The Bad Batch, which is interesting, on a meta level if nothing else.

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week, our topic is Knight Errant, a three-volume comic series set in the era of The Old Republic, starring a young female Jedi Kerra Holt.

Do you know anything about it? If not, does it sound interesting to you?

(Alternate topic since this is so obscure: who’s your favorite female Jedi?)

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

(Well. It’s a Monday chat corner in spirit.)

The topic for this week is Star Wars: Darth Vader (2015), the Marvel comic book series written by Kieron Gillen. It’s given us some memorable quotes (“You killed my father!” “I’ve killed very many fathers. You’ll have to be more specific.”) and some very memorable characters (like the intrepid Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra, who has since spawned multiple series of her own).

Have you read it? What do you think?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This is current-canon week, so lets come back to High Republic, the multimedia project set roughly two centuries before the Prequels. We’ve already talked about it in 2021, but I figure that after nearly two years there might be a new thing or three to talk about.

Bonus question, since comics tend to be the less known topic on this comm: if you could choose any era of the Galaxy Far Far Away to set the next TV show or movie in, what would it be, and why? Or for the fic writers among us, if you had to write a story in an era you’ve never written about before, which one would you pick?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

For this week’s Legends topic, I’ve dug out the 90s Dark Horse comics series Star Wars: Dark Empire, which according to its Wookieepedia entry looks like the inspiration for the infamous Palpatine-clone-shaped plot twist of the third Sequel movie! Innnnnteresting.

Has anyone read this? Is anyone interested? I’ve already got my mitts on a scan, and if nothing else the art is VERY nineties comics…

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

For this week, the topic is “Classic Star Wars”, the comic book series re-release of the strips and comics of the Original Trilogy era (or the comics themselves of course, if any of you remember their first versions from the 70’s and 80’s).

And in case you’re not into 70’s comics, here’s a ridiculous prompt for you: which comic book, graphic novel, manga, bande designée or other “drawn” hero(es) would you like meet someone from GFFA?

Welcome to this week’s chat corner!

Optional prompt

The topic for this week is “Tales of the Jedi“, the Legends comicbook series that covers the earliest era of the GFFA (not the upcoming series of the same name).

Do you know the series? Have you read it, and if yes, what did you think? If not, are you interested?

Welcome to this week’s chat corner!

Optional prompt

This week, the optional topic is the comic miniseries “Star Wars: Obi-Wan and Anakin“, which features a random war (with dirigibles!), Anakin struggling with his place as a Jedi, and some supremely skeevy Sheev.

Anybody has read it? What did you think about the story, or the art?

Welcome to this week’s chat corner!

Optional prompt

This week’s topic is “Tag & Bink”, the non-canon, non-Legends, non-anything comic series about a duo of inept Rebels.

Wookieepedia tells me the characters have “achieved a cult status”, but I have never heard of them before. Have you?

Welcome to this week’s chat corner!

Optional prompt

This week, the topic is the multimedia project “Star Wars: The High Republic”. First announced as Project Luminous, it started publishing in this year and consists of comics, novels, short stories, and more - probably the most well-known of which is the book Star Wars the High Republic: Light of the Jedi.

Have you read anything from it? Would you like to? What do you think?

Welcome to this week’s chat corner!

Optional chat prompt

This week’s optional topic is “Star Wars: Republic”, the long-running DC comic that now belongs to the Legends canon, but which served as an inspiration for a lot of current canon’s events.

Welcome to this week’s chat corner!

Optional chat prompt

This week’s topic is the Marvel comic series “Doctor Aphra”, both the 2016-2019 run and the 2020- ongoing. Have you read it? Do you like it?

Since this is the first comicbook in the chat prompts, what do you think about SW comics in general? There have been a ton, pretty much since year one - the release date of the first comic actually predates the first movie! (April 12, 1977 and May 25, 1977) Do you read them, or are you interested?

EDIT: Lest I confuse anyone who remembers that this week is supposed to be Legends content, I did a dumb: Doctor Aphra (both runs) are very firmly canon. (Which I knew, it’s just that I’m disorganized as all heck.) Apologies!
