Hi!

This week's topic is the last movie of the Sequel trilogy, Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

As usual: do you have any thoughts or feels about this movie? Old, new, recurring...

It's been a while since the movie came out in 2019. If you think about it... do you miss something? Either directly from the movie (a protagonist you love, a side character you wish we got more of), something related to it (going to see a SW movie in the cinema, perhaps?), or something only vaguely related?

Hi!

it's Legends week, and I bring you another random bit out of the vault: Rebel Mission to Ord Mantell, an audio drama set between Episodes IV and V, released in 1983 "on both record album and cassette tape", which just makes me giggle. Star Wars on vinyl?!

I don't suppose any of you have encountered this one, but if so, please share! Otherwise, feel free to go on any tangent you like - from vinyl to events of 1983 (the eponymous video game crash perhaps?).

Hi!

Since since nine of the planned twelve episodes have aired, maybe you'd like to talk about the second season of Andor?

Are you watching? What do you think of it so far?

Have you rewatched the first season and if yes, what was that like - discovered something you've forgotten, changed your mind about something,...?

Hi!

This week, the topic is "jokes and humor", any way you'd like to interpret it.

What's your favorite joke or funny scene in SW? Which movie (or other piece of media) you consider funniest?

Does SW fit your sense of humor - and if not, what would you like to see?

Bring your memes! Do you have a favorite? (something something high ground...)

Hi!

Topic for this week: *Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi, aka the middle movie of the Sequel trilogy.

Any special feelings about this one, this time around? Would you watch this movie if...

  • you were bored and it came up on the TV? (Pretend that you still own a TV that receives broadcast programming.)
  • a friend/partner/child wanted to see it?
  • they were doing a screening in the local cinema?
    • and you got free tickets?
  • you had free time and wanted to treat yourself?
  • someone held a gun to your head? :D

Hi!

This week, the topic is "Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear", a novel by Alexander Freed that focuses on the first year of the Empire as experienced by Bail Organa, Mon Mothma and Saw Gerrera.

This is a very fresh book: it was released this February. Have any of you read it, or plan to?

Alexander Freed is an established Star Wars writer with several well-received SW novels to his name - would that recommend or detract from this book for you?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

The topic for this week is the new Disney show Skeleton Crew. Spoilers allowed! I've seen people talking about the show around DW, so feel free to share your thoughts.

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week's topic is "trade" - buying, selling, merchants and merchandise, money, the economy, or literally anything related to it.

(Topic brought to you by the shopping spree season, obviously.)

In-universe, do you have a favorite thing being sold, or a favorite person selling it?

On meta level: what's your favorite SW thing you've bought? Do you have a story to go with it?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner.

The topic of this week is the movie Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, the last film of the Original Trilogy.

It's interesting to consider, that the Return of the Jedi, having come out in 1983, has been "the last Star Wars movie" for sixteen years. The Revenge of the Sith has been "the last one" for ten years, and The Rise of Skywalker is now five years old.

In retrospect, what do you think about that trajectory? Or if you're (un)lucky to have been a fan during one or both of those gaps, how did it feel back then? And how are you feeling about that last stretch?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner.

This week's topic is the Darth Bane trilogy, written by Drew Karpyshyn and published 2006-2009.

Has anyone read this one? What are your thoughts?

My only impressions from the Wookieepedia articles are "what happened to that middle cover?" and "hm, Karpyshyn, isn't that the guy who every Revan fan hates?" :D

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

(I'm back!)

The topic of this week is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the 2019 computer game, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, its 2023 sequel.

Have you played either of them? Would you like to? Or maybe you've watched a Lets Play of it - which one? Would you recommend it? Do you have a favorite character, scene, ship, fanwork...?

According to Wikipedia, September 30 is the International Translation Day - so lets make the topic for this week be "translations".

Have you ever read/watched any Star Wars media in a different language than English?

There's a lot of translation happening in SW - starting with C-3PO, of course! What's your favorite translation moment?

If you could learn one Star Wars language, which one would you learn?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

Our topic this week is the movie "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back".

If you were to choose one scene in this movie to do differently - plot-wise, in the dialog, camera, cutting it altogether - which one would it be?

Or the other way around: what scene would you add?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

Topic for this week is Star Wars Insider, the official Star Wars magazine. Did you know it started as The Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine, with the first issue published in 1987?

What are your thoughts? Have you ever read an issue of it? Subscribed, even? (Wait, is it something you could ever subscribe to?)

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week, our topic is The Odyssey of Star Wars: An Epic Poem - an adaptation of Rogue One and the Original Trilogy in the style of Odyssey and Beowulf.

...yes, really.

Have you heard of it? Have you read it? What do you think about it, whether you did or not? Come and discuss!

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week is general topic week, and our discussion topic is "seasons" of any kind. Seasons of the year, TV show seasons, social seasons, fashion seasons, or maybe even food seasoning if you want to stretch it!

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

Our topic for this week: the movie Star Wars: A New Hope, AKA "just Star Wars", AKA the first of them all.

It might be a little difficult to talk about this one! But... hm. Lets say you had to cast this movie today. Who would you cast for which role? I don't mean actors who look like the originals, but rather the roles as written, the farm boy turned hero, the plucky princess, the scoundrel...

Or, if you want to mentally scar us, who do you think would get cast in a worst-case version of SW? (I'm sensing some Chrises XD)

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

Something of a continuation from last week, the topic for this week is The Approaching Storm, a Prequel-era novel by Alan Dean Foster, the author of the famous Episode IV novelization. It's meant to serve as a prelude to Episode II - so, not quite a novelization, but very very close to it.

Have you read this book? What did you think? Would you recommend it?

Alternately: go look at the book's cover. Would you pick it up in a shop? What would you think if you saw it?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week it's time for non-movie, canon media, and I'm going to dip into the archive and bring up a topic from around this time a few years ago: "movie novelizations".

As far as I know, every SW movie got a book written from it - some even multiple, if we count comic adaptations and books for younger readers. Have you ever read any? What do you think about novelizations as a concept - do you enjoy them, find them a valuable source of canon, or would you rather they didn't exist at all?

And how much canon do you actually consider them? I'm not quite sure how much does Disney consider them canon (but admittedly I didn't search too hard).

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

The topic for this week is "writing". Does that mean... Aurebesh? In-universe writers and/or their works? Your own Star Wars related writing? All the writers who ever wrote a Star Wars book? Yes.
