The way everything was set up, I honestly expected the heist to go much worse than it did - the plan did not fail, even considering the bodycount! That's kind of horrible really, but feels very fitting to the tone of this show.
I did expect Nemik, poor kid, but not Skeen, and honestly thought that either Vel or Sinta would die (very happy to be wrong). Do we know whether Sinta killed the base commander's family? I wonder whether they'll leave that open or clarify it up later.
Also, the way Cassian reacts when he kills someone not in combat, that little moment of horror and panic! That is so good. He's not doing it in cold blood and it's not unambiguously the right solution, and he knows that.
The acting, direction, and script all work together so well in this show, it's a joy to watch. (I keep comparing this to TBOBF and cringing, tbqh. Unfair comparison maybe, but god.)
I really liked how the show portrayed the relationship between the Empire and the Aldhani. This was very clearly researched (unfortunately we have hundreds of years of similar power relationships in our own history), but it didn't feel too in-your-face, at least to me.
(might have more thoughts later, just wanted to gush right away)
