This week, the topic is “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story“, AKA the first SW movie outside of the Skywalker saga. Interestingly, it was also the first not scored by John Williams.

One of the things that intrigued me about Rogue One at the time is exactly that it was not part of the Skywalker saga. I had not yet seen the animated series so to me it was interesting as a view of the verse that was different from what we'd previously seen.

The one R1-adjacent fic I've read (before seeing the movie! I couldn't resist) is "chaos, yet harmony", which is a Jyn/Ahsoka AU. It's wonderful, highly recommended.

I stopped linking it (or making new ones) because most people thought it's not a good idea and negative opinions belong into the chat corners proper. Or, I suppose you can always make a separate "Lets hate on Disney together" post? :D
Interesting, about Jyn. I was a bit surprised by her when I saw the movie, because from the fic and meta I imagined her a bit more... forceful, I guess? But she grew on me.

I ship it!

Date: 2022-10-11 07:46 pm (UTC)You know, I've had that Vader scene really hyped up by the internet, and then it didn't really rise up to my expectations. It's good, but not as good as my imagination made it I guess :D
But it does have Mustafar and Vader making that dad joke about choking on aspirations, and that absolutely did work, so. Satisfying delivery on the Vader front.

So you could imagine how cool it was to see that scene opening night if you hadn't seen the spoiler leaks.
