I finished clipping the important (i.e. Leia) bits of ANH for my [community profile] vidukon_cardiff premiere! I have also splatted them all on the timeline. Now I just need to do the same for ESB (urgh) and RotJ. At least for ESB I can just skip straight from the Hoth escape to Cloud City... To commemorate, I made an icon! (Pictured.)

Has anyone written an AU where the Zillo beast eats Palpatine? I feel like it's a great point to split the timeline and very plausible

Sheev Palpatine gets eaten by a Zillo Beast is a canonical freeform on AO3 and has 10 works tagged with just that. There's also the episode tag for The Zillo Beast Strikes Back. Not sure if anything scratches your itch, but those would be good places to start! I can't recall anything that seriously delved into an unknowingly de-Sithed Republic, but then again, I don't really keep up with e.g. the Anidala fandom.

I've read a few! Can't recall any specific ones, but I could go through my collection if you're looking for one, as opposed to just throwing it out as a concept.

Most of them were humorous, but I do remember at least one that basically went "...and Palps got eaten by the Zillo beast, MOVING ON" and then continued with an unrelated story.

It does feel a bit silly, so I don't know if I myself could pull it off in a serious fic, but I'm sure it could be done.
