Welcome to this week’s chat corner!
Optional prompt
This week we start our walk through the Star Wars movies again, with “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace”, the chronological beginning of the Star Wars saga (well, at least the movie version of it).
What are your thoughts? Speaking of beginnings, do you think we will ever get a movie set before TPM?
(And for the few who have been here for this topic last year, do you remember what you’ve said back then? :D)

Date: 2022-05-09 10:20 pm (UTC)So I went with my parents and best friend to see TPM not too long after.
It was awesome and seeing Maul ignite that double blade made me team saberstaff for life (even though Exar Kun technically did it first ;) )
The amount of promotion and merchandise around this movie was insane. There were trading cards in chips (I have the full set somewhere), Pepsi Cans etc and several books...which I read over and over again.
I had all the journals (Maul,
Queen Amidala and Anakin) plus the first 2 books in the Jedi Apprentice series and the kids version of the movie novelisation.
So yeah TPM gets nothing but love from me!

Date: 2022-05-10 07:49 pm (UTC)aww :D TPM was my first Star Wars movie, so, saaaame.
I've missed out on the merchandise (I don't think there was much in our country - I was tiny, but I do remember the merch around Titanic and that was two years earlier), but me and my brother had two tie-in computer games and played them a lot.
Speaking of, I bought the Episode I Racer game in the big SW sale on Steam and it's such a blast from the past! I keep cooing over it like a grandma. XD

Date: 2022-05-20 01:31 am (UTC)But oh man, I had forgotten about the SW Pepsi cans, I'm pretty sure I had a bunch of them stashed away in some attempt to collect the set. Collecting empty pop cans. Their marketing department apparently really got it right that time.
Right, clearly I need to watch ep. 1 this weekend so I can come up with some proper content here.
