Nope, the new series has Ahsoka and Dooku as protagonists, while this is set thousands of years before the original trilogy. (Wookieepedia says 5000 to 3986BBY though how did they get the second number is a mystery to me.)
So, yeah, the stories don't seem to have anything in common. The branding on the other hand... IDK what Disney is thinking with this one. Is the title so good for marketing that they don't want to waste it on a nineties comic? They even reused the logo, just with a different font:
